Consultation document outlining NZFSA’s proposal to introduce a food standard setting composition and labelling requirements for food-type dietary supplements, the New Zealand (Supplemented Food) Food Standard. The new standard will incorporate most of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. The new standard proposes a two year transitional period during which time, products may comply with the existing requirements for food-type dietary supplements or may chose to comply with the requirements of the new food standard.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is issuing an order prohibiting the extralabel use of cephalosporin antimicrobial drugs in food-producing animals. This order is based on evidence that extralabel use of these drugs in food-producing animals will likely cause an adverse event in humans and, as such, presents a risk to the public health.
