For consumer protection, the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) is proposing to revise the MOPH notification concerning the maximum residue level of pesticides in food through a risk-based framework focused on either short-term (acute) or long-term (chronic) exposures using Thai food consumption data and field trial data.The main elements of the draft MOPH notification are as follows:Revision of the MRLs/EMRLs set forth in Annexes 2 and 4 of the MOPH notification;Revision of the Default limit set forth in Annex 3 of the MOPH notification;Addition of the provision "In cases other than those specified in Annexes 2 and 4 and Codex, the pesticide residues in food shall not exceed the ASEAN MRLs". This MOPH Notification shall come into force after the date of its publication in the Government Gazette.
