Draft "Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No ../.. of ... amending Decision 2007/777/EC and Regulation (EC) No 798/2008 as regards the entries for Ukraine in the lists of third countries from which meat products and certain meat, eggs and egg products may be introduced into the Union"
Distribution date: 27 July 2012 | Final date for Comment: 25 September 2012
Ukraine has requested authorization for imports of certain meat, eggs, egg products and meat products into the European Union. Following several inspections carried out by the European Union's experts in Ukraine, the competent veterinary authority of Ukraine was able to demonstrate and provide the appropriate guarantees as regards compliance with the Union rules for animal and public health. Therefore imports into the Eruopean Union of the above listed commodities should be authorized by including Ukraine in the third country lists laid down in the legislation cited below. Background: Commission Decision 2007/777/EC lays down the animal and public health conditions and model certificates for imports of certain meat products and treated stomachs, bladders and intestines for human consumption from third countries. It also sets out a list of third countries or parts thereof from which the introduction of these products is authorised, provided they comply with the treatment referred to in that list. Commission Regulation (EC) No 798/2008 lays down a list of third countries, territories, zones or compartments from which poultry and poultry products may be imported into and transit through the Community (EU) and the accompanying veterinary certification requirements.
Products Covered: Meat of poultry, farmed feathered game, ratites and wild game birds, eggs, egg products and certain meat products [HS Codes: 0207, 020890, 0210, 0407, 0408, 0504, 1601, 1602, 210610, 3502]
