About the Scheme

The Regulatory Representatives and Managers Association (RRMA) proudly announces its plan to launch a Certified Regulatory Compliance Professional Certification Scheme (CRCPCS) — a globally oriented personnel certification framework developed specifically for professionals engaged in chemical regulatory affairs, product compliance, stewardship, and regulatory governance.

Developed in alignment with the principles and requirements of ISO/IEC 17024:2012 — Conformity Assessment — General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification of Persons — CRCPCS establishes a structured, competency-based mechanism for the independent assessment and certification of regulatory professionals across chemical and allied industries.

CRCPCS represents a significant milestone in the evolution of professional recognition within the regulatory affairs sector and is among the first internationally structured certification schemes dedicated specifically to chemical regulatory compliance professionals.

The Scheme has been developed in response to the growing global demand for qualified professionals capable of interpreting and implementing increasingly complex regulatory obligations relating to chemicals, sustainability, product safety, environmental protection, market access, and responsible supply chain management.

By establishing harmonized competency requirements and impartial certification processes, CRCPCS seeks to strengthen professional credibility, industry confidence, regulatory consistency, and responsible chemical management practices across jurisdictions.

Why the Scheme is Important

The global regulatory environment governing chemicals and products has become increasingly dynamic, interconnected, and compliance driven. Organizations today operate within a landscape shaped by evolving regulatory expectations, sustainability requirements, international trade obligations, and increasing stakeholder scrutiny.

Industries are required to address complex obligations:
  • Chemical safety and risk management
  • Hazard communication and classification
  • Product stewardship and sustainability
  • Environmental and occupational health and safety
  • Supply chain transparency and due diligence
  • Import/export and market access compliance
  • Product-specific and sector-specific regulations
  • Responsible sourcing and sustainability reporting
CRCPCS addresses this critical gap by:

As regulatory frameworks continue to expand globally, organizations face growing challenges across multiple jurisdictions.

Despite the strategic importance of regulatory affairs functions, there has historically been limited availability of globally aligned, competency-based certification systems dedicated specifically to professionals in chemical regulatory compliance.

  • Establishing internationally benchmarked competency standards
  • Promoting professional recognition, credibility, and trust
  • Supporting industries in identifying qualified regulatory personnel
  • Strengthening compliance culture and governance systems
  • Encouraging continual professional development and lifelong learning
  • Enhancing confidence among regulators, industries, customers, and stakeholders

The Scheme represents an important step toward the professionalization and global harmonization of regulatory competence within the chemical and product compliance sectors.

Purpose of the CRCPCS

The primary objective of CRCPCS is to independently assess and certify the competence of professionals involved in regulatory affairs, product compliance, chemical safety, sustainability, and related regulatory disciplines.

The scheme is designed to:

  • Establish a transparent and credible competency evaluation framework
  • Validate professional knowledge, technical capability, and practical regulatory competence
  • Promote consistent interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements
  • Support organizations in strengthening compliance governance systems
  • Enable recognition of competent professionals through approved Personnel Certification Bodies (PrCBs)
  • Encourage ethical, scientifically sound, and responsible regulatory practices
