The notified Resolution establishes the phytosanitary requirements governing the importation into Chile of fresh persimmons (Diospyros kaki) for consumption grown in the Republic of Korea: Fresh persimmons exported to Chile must come from orchards and packing facilities approved and registered by the Republic of Korea's Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA). APQA-registered orchards must have programmes for good agricultural practices, including APQA-supervised monitoring and control measures to ensure that the orchards remain free from quarantine pests of importance to Chile. To control Monilinia fructigena in orchards, suitable pre-harvest chemical products shall be applied at least once and APQA officials or APQA-authorized persons shall inspect the orchards at least twice between bloom and harvest. Should Monilinia fructigena be detected during orchard or export inspections, no fresh persimmons shall be exported from that orchard to Chile for the rest of the season. During the selection process and packing of persimmons, fruit with damage attributable to pests or diseases, fruit infested with live arthropods and rotten fruit shall be identified and removed. Similarly, packed fruit must not contain any soil, leaves, branches and other plant remains. This process shall be supervised by APQA officials or APQA-authorized persons.
