Most (82% on average) of imported consignments of fresh pineapple fruits have been intercepted due to infestation of Korea's quarantine pests and disinfected with CH3Br or other equivalent treatments at the ports of entry. In order to prevent the introduction of Korea's quarantine pests, QIA plans to establish a new import requirement for fresh pineapple fruits from Cambodia, China, Costa Rica, Honduras, Indonesia, Malaysia, Panama, the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Viet Nam. All fresh pineapple fruits from the above listed countries will be required to be treated prior to export or on arrival at the Republic of Korea.
