Sustainability and carbon (ESG)
The committee will investigate the key areas of interest to the members in the ESG area. It will also assess and update members and policy makers on existing and upcoming key issues and challenges relating to the ESG related norms, standards, and regulations. The committee can also give recommendations on how to address the challenges and issues relating to these issues and/or challenges. Additionally, the committee can define the role that RRMA could have within this thematic area.
Polymer and resins
Most regulations and technical standards treat polymers and resins in a separate, special category. One of the key issues is the identification of the polymer analytically, which poses a challenge. In other countries, polymer exemption requires specific details on the method of analysis and a justification to seek exemption must be provided. Furthermore, there are growing concerns about plastic pollution, and active policy discussion on the issue of micro-plastics. The committee will be responsible for providing technical and scientific input in such issues as a stakeholder. It can define the role that RRMA could have within this thematic area and can prepare short fact sheets and/or policy briefs.
