Import inspection requirement for commodities classified under 26 specific CCC codes if they are used for food or food additives

Commodities classified under 26 specific CCC codes shall follow the "Regulations of Inspection of Imported Foods and Related Products" if they are used for food or food additives. The importers shall apply for inspection to the Food and Drug Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Compulsory specification for aquacultured live and chilled raw bivalve molluscs (VC 9107) – Extension of the comment period

This compulsory specification requires that aquacultured live and chilled raw bivalve molluscs for human consumption which are offered for sale, comply with the chemical, marine biotoxins and microbiological requirements for disease-causing organisms outlined in the referenced SANS 2879, read together with the shellfish monitoring programme and relevant technical regulations. The date for comments has been extended to 17 January 2018.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or we) is amending the colour additive regulations to provide for the safe use of calcium carbonate to colour hard and soft candy, mints, and chewing gum. We are taking this action in response to a colour additive petition submitted by the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company. The rule is effective 8 December 2017.
