This import health standard allows for the importation of biological products destined for laboratory use into New Zealand from all countries. It includes the following safeguards against diseases of concern: If it is not a risk good or a risk good with an acceptable level of risk for use in a laboratory without conditions, then a general permit to import will be issued and the product will be eligible for a biosecurity clearance. If the product is a risk good and has an acceptable level of risk when used under the conditions of a transitional facility, a restricted permit to import will be issued. The product will be directed to a transitional facility approved to MAF Regulatory Authority Standard 154.02.17 Transitional facilities for biological products. If the biological product and its intended use are considered to present a risk to biosecurity in New Zealand, no permit to import will be issued.
