Draft TIS 1479-25XX Cold Formed Structural Steel Sections (21 Pages, Available in Thai language)

The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has proposed to withdraw TIS 1479-2541 (1998) Hot-Rolled Carbon Steel Coil, Strip, Plate and Sheet for General Structure which is a mandatory standard and replaced it with TIS 1479-25XX Hot Rolled Flat Carbon Steel for General Structure. The standard divides hot rolled flat carbon steel into five types, i.e. coil, narrow coil, slitted coil, plate and sheet and classifies into 4 grades based on minimum tensile strength as SS 330, SS 400, SS 490 and SS 540. This standard specifies mass, dimensions and tolerances on thickness, width and length, permissible variations and out-of-squareness, flatness, chemical composition; prescribes requirements i.e. general characteristics, tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and bending and includes marking and labeling, sampling and criteria for conformity and testing.

The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has proposed to withdraw TIS 1228-2537 (1994) which is a mandatory standard and replace it with TIS 1228-2549 (2006) Cold Formed Structural Steel Sections. The standard covers only structural steel made from mild steel by the process of cold forming, classified into six types, i.e. light angle steel, light channel steel, lip channel steel, light Z steel, lip Z steel and hat steel which are of 1 grades denoted by the symbol SSC 400 and specifies sizes and tolerances (i.e. thickness, cross-sectional area, moment of inertia, radius of gyration and modulus of section.). This standard prescribes requirements i.e. general characteristics, chemical composition, mechanical properties (e.g. yield strength, tensile strength and elongation) and includes marking and labeling, sampling and criteria for conformity and testing.
