This draft standard revision is based on the international </span><span lang="EN-GB">specifications provided by FAO/WHO for mineral oils and adopted by the Codex Alimentarius entitled:</span></p><ul><li><span style="font-size:x-small;font-face:Verdana;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:9pt;"><span>FAO/WHO-FAO JECFA - Monograph 1 (2006)&nbsp;MINERAL OIL - HIGH VISCOSITY</span></span></span></li><li><span style="font-size:x-small;font-face:Verdana;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:9pt;"><span>FAO/WHO-FAO JECFA - Monograph 13 (2012)&nbsp;MINERAL OIL - MEDIUM VISCOSITY</span></span></span></li></ul><p><span style="font-size:x-small;font-face:Verdana;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="letter-spacing:-0.1pt;font-size:9pt;"><span>The major differences between the old version and this new revised draft standard are as follows:</span></span></span></p><ul><li><span style="font-size:x-small;font-face:Verdana;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:9pt;"><span>Reduces the range of allowed viscosity;</span></span></span></li><li><span style="font-size:x-small;font-face:Verdana;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:9pt;"><span>Deletes the paragraph dealing with standard compatibility;</span></span></span></li><li><span style="font-size:x-small;font-face:Verdana;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:9pt;"><span>Deletes&nbsp;the paragraph dealing with sampling for oil characteristics test and instead requires to sample according to the American Standard ASTM D4057-06;</span></span></span></li><li><span style="font-size:x-small;font-face:Verdana;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:9pt;"><span>Changes the requirements and the test methods.</span></span></span></li></ul><p><span style="font-size:x-small;font-face:Verdana;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="letter-spacing:-0.1pt;font-size:9pt;"><span>Both the old standard and the new revised standard will apply for 1 year from date of entry into force.
