About the course

Understanding physical chemistry's role in chemical safety Environmental and human health risk assessment Case studies and problem-solving sessions

Chemical Safety Assessment for Regulatory Submissions Course is an online certificate course designed for those who would like to understand, assess, and manage environmental risks associated with exposure to pollutants and industrial chemicals. The course is open to students and working professionals. The course is developed by the Regulatory Representatives and Manager Association (RRMA), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad, and Global Product Compliance (GPC).

What you will learn?

This course provides a basic understanding and practical knowledge of chemical safety assessment. It introduces key terms and concepts and explains the basic understanding of the Chemical safety assessment, enabling them to contribute to a safer working and living environment. Topics addressed include:

  • What are the physical and chemical properties of the substances and practicalities of it?
  • What are the methods to determine the environmental risks of chemicals?
  • How to assess and interpret potential hazards of chemicals?
  • How to conduct risk assessments for chemicals in the environment?
  • How to apply the risk assessment principles to develop practical solutions and manage environmental risks?
  • How is the scientific data and exposure estimation used in Chemical Safety Reports and Extended-SDS?
  • What is the linkage between physicochemical data, toxicity, and environmental fate concepts to the risk assessment of chemicals for human health and the environment?

Learning Outcomes

✦ Understanding of the physical chemistry principles which are essential for assessing and mitigating chemical hazards in various environments.

✦ Understand the limitations and applications of computational methods in chemical safety assessment.
