Revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 225. This draft standard revision is an implementation of both the International Standard ISO 4928 - Third edition: 2006-07-15 and the American Standard SAE J1601: REV. July 97 and allows compliance with either of them. The major modification of this revision is that it does not include tests for chemical components and for stretching strength and lengthening.

Because gas cylinders for outdoor cookers contain flammable and pressurized gas, the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection intends to require that gas cylinders for outdoor cookers be subject to safety requirements to protect consumers’ rights and interests. The inspection standard CNS 15230 “Non-refillable metallic gas canisters for portable liquefied petroleum gas appliances” was adopted by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) on 17 January 2009 and is planned to apply to all such products starting 1 July 2010.

This NPRM proposes to amend FMVSS No. 116, Motor Vehicle Brake Fluids, so that brake fluids would be tested with ethylene, propylene, and diene terpolymer (EPDM) rubber, as this type of rubber is increasingly being used in brake fluid seals. This NPRM also updates references to standards issued by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the American Society for Materials and Testing (ASTM) (no substantive changes to the standard would be made by these updates), and corrects minor errors in the standard.
