This Resolution prohibits the use throughout national territory of pharmaceutical products and inputs for veterinary use the formulation of which contains nitrofurans (or the salts thereof). The registration of the veterinary products and inputs specified in the Resolution is cancelled. The use of nitrofuran-based products is only authorized for topical use in ornamental pets, horses and other species not intended for human consumption.

Such products are to be strictly controlled and the veterinary pharmacies, distributors and veterinary companies which import and market them are required to make their dispatch conditional upon presentation of a veterinary prescription, which is to be filed in their records pending the respective inspection.
