The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or we) is amending the color additive regulations to provide for the safe use of soy leghemoglobin as a color additive in ground beef analogue products. We are taking this action in response to a color additive petition (CAP) submitted by Impossible Foods, Inc. (Impossible Foods or petitioner).This rule is effective 4 September 2019.
